Judith Schaeffer-Benoit, LCSW, MSc, is located in Green Village, New Jersey, near the towns of Chatham, Madison and Morristown.  She obtained her clinical degrees in Family Therapy from the University of London, Kings College Institute of Psychiatry in the UK, and her Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University in the USA.  In addition Ms. Schaeffer - Benoit has trained at the Gestalt Institute and is a Certified Equine Assisted Therapist.  Ms. Schaeffer- Benoit is a member of the International Family Therapy Association and EAGALA and has presented nationally and internationally. She is also a certified NASW clinical supervisor and a Rutgers University liaison for graduate students of Social Work.  Ms. Schaeffer-Benoit has held a position as a clinical deputy director at a family treatment center, a special service coordinator at a k-12 school and has worked in inpatient, outpatient and crisis hospital settings. Prior to her clinical experience she worked in Sleep Disorders Medicine for seven years. Her training and experience are in the areas of couple, child, family treatment, trauma, anxiety, gay and lesbian, learning disorders, sleep disorders, life transition, and culture and gender sensitivity.

Her undergraduate degree in Fine Art and her passion for culture and anthropology lend themselves to her ability to work systemically and creatively with children, families, and individuals in identifying and exploring alternative ways of communicating and understanding.  Through the use of family maps/narratives, cognitive reframing and awareness training, she addresses her clients within the cultural and familial contexts in which they live.
